Is porn, sex or love addiction ruining your life and relationships? Do your sexual choices feel risky, or out of sync with the person you want to be? Are you constantly drawn to the thrill of new connections but not able to stay faithful to a long-term partner? Unlike someone with a high sex drive who might think about or have sex often, but can control their urges, someone who has a sex addiction often feels out of control when it comes to sex. Rather than enhancing satisfaction or pleasure, sex addiction causes distress to the person and their significant relationships. In therapy, we will explore the reasons behind these negative sexual and relational impulses, learn how to manage compulsions, address relationship problems, and develop strategies to cope with stress or distress in positive ways.
